This treatment method will kill the nest immediately and completely - including queens. Won't hurt grass, dirt, grazing animals, children or pets. TARGET PESTS: Fire ants. WHERE TO USE IT: Grass, turf, flower beds, mulch areas and any place you consider to be "common ground" and want to keep fire ant free. RATE OF APPLICATION: 1/2 - 1 ounce to a gallon of water. Use anywhere from 1/2 gallon to 2 gallons per mound depending on the depth and the width of the mound. Most mounds will require 1 gallon or less of finished product to treat them properly but using more is always suggested to insure complete coverage. PACKAGING AND COST: Cypermethrin is available in two forms. The Emulsifiable Concentrate is a liquid form which is easy to mix and use. It dries invisible, has a slight odor, will last up to a month and is generally the choice when spraying a lot inside. The Wettable Powder is white and will leave a slight residue on dark surfaces, has a no odor, will last a week or two longer than the Emulsifiable Concentrate and is generally used outside where the extra length residual is an advantage. Keep in mind that either form can be used inside or outside. The wettable powder is able to provide a little longer residual but there is the possibility of a visible residue on dark surfaces.
